“Common Beauty” August 31st 2014 Weekend Writing Warriors #8Sunday

Every Sunday, a group of us sign up at the Weekend Writing Warriors blog and post a snippet of a work in progress or poetry. I will be using this platform to share another side of my writing – my poetry. I will also be sharing some of my photography. Here’s mine for the week:

Common Beauty

There are tomes of bones left unread in every grave, their words whisper in the soil. We like to tell ourselves they are just dreams or shadows on the wind, but the roads are open and we are walking, marching, the same dusty fate. So why don’t we pause and listen? While the comfort of animals still presses warm against our skin and autumn fires burn in common beauty.

I think I will always remember the first line. “There are tomes of bones…” It resonates and pulls at me. I’m so glad I’ve discovered your work.
